Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Machine This is my first push trimmer. I have 4 acres of fenced-in property. Took me about 1 hour to trim around the fence. Other than pushing the machine, it was effortless. The only drawback was that I had to replace the strings about 4-5 times since hitting rocks, fence posts, trees, etc. The best part about this trimmer was that I didn't have to re-fuel after all that trimming and still has gas leftover. Starting was as easy as advertised (about 2 pulls).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Beastly I bought mine after using an expensive straight line trimmer for years. This thing is a beast! Have a small yard .75 acres, which is fenced almost all the way around. Used to take an hour with the old trimmer and now I cut the lawn while the wife pushed the trimmer. She could not handle the gas powered straight lined trimmer for more than 10 min usually. She loved pushing this thing around and had the whole exterior and around the gardens and patio done with the front yard on 20 minutes. I have absolutely raved about this to my friends and neighbors about it! I took it to Hunting camp and did both side of the road in 9/10 mile each way It took down everything in its path including small saplings about 1/4-1/3 inch around usual woods stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trimmer Great trimmer for weeds and bush clearing. The only thing I had an issue with was when got it seemed to be slow running speed. After looking it over I found the bracket that connect the governor spring for controlling running speed was bent down not parallel like it should be. I unhooked the spring and straightened out the bracket and after re-hooking the spring it runs a lot better now does not bog down when butting. Still a lot of play in the governor not running at the highest speed it could go to but running a lot better. When you get it I would check for that as mine was bent way down so seed was very low when running.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sadly Disappointed The BAD! Runs for about 20 minutes.... overheats and dies until the engine completely cools. Useless for my moderate work for the machine. Talked to person at sales point who also owns this model and he said his does the same thing on hot days and or moderate work for the machine. This is a man eater (hard labor) for older folks with uneven surface ground and incline/decline areas. Has no clutch. Only used for about 1 hour actual run time and that was enough bad experience for me. The GOOD! Started on the 1st pull every time....eats everything you put in front of it. The 0.155 square string is great/tough. My SOLUTION! Getting rid of it to the highest offer after only one hour of running time/work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'm not happy Auto chokes need to be outlawed! you have to be a mechanic to take it apart and try to start it! Would not suggest anybody purchase products that puts auto chokes even if they are a mechanic, time-consuming to take apart!! The smarter we get the worse products we produce!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed had the original DR high wheel trimmer,,,,great at 5 hp. worked well, many year's. then had to use a Honda (heavy) push mower, got it as a tip as I'm a driver, for a moving company, the pull starter assembly broke, not bad fix, but missed the ease and lightness of a high wheel trimmer. neighbor died, his sister, remembered,I'd use a weed eater feather lite. to cut his hill, when he got to old. gave me his Lawn boy, self propelled. mower, very nice, till carb went. ,,,well lot's rain, front n back out of control. too much for weed eater. realized, dude, you need a new DR high wheel trimmer, period.,,,out of curious , did search, Cub cadet, 159 cc or 6.75 hp, n my old DR Animal at 5.0 hp, and DR much more $. review after review, Cub Cadet st100 all 5's ??? $329.00 everywhere, but $299.00 at tractor supply ?? seriously ??? called local Tractor supply. girl said, don't send home ,more $ n take's longer, have sent here, 5 day's. said o.k thx. sure enough, 4 day's, arrived in pouring rain, I'm impatient, added oil, honest, not provided, 10-30, added mobil 1 synthetic 10-30. took out in pouring rain, 4' weedy grass, all wet, and it DESTROYED WET 4' WEEDY grass in pouring rain, and I am beyond PLEASED, ,,,did not think anything on earth. could out perform my original DR high wheel trimmer, Cub Cadet, you have a new fan !!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a beast! (with the right string) We bought this trimmer to clear grasses and brush in the rough and wooded terrain around our house. We were initially disappointed because, while it cleared the grasses easily, the string (which came with the product) wrapped around and broke on the berry stalks and small saplings that were everywhere. We had to snip these all by hand, which made the trimmer almost worthless to us. Then my husband found a heavy duty string at our local rental shop and decided to try it with our trimmer. It was amazing! The machine was able to rip through rough brush with alder saplings without breaking once. I am a 67 year old woman, and i was able to maneuver the trimmer over rotting logs, and other small obstacles. I was able to clear vegetation to bare dirt level which will help tremendously with fire mitigation. This trimmer has now become our most important landscaping tool. The string we used is Diamond Edge brand 0.155 inch diameter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Trimmer All in all very happy with unit. Only con I have is the way to change oil. I added a drain hose to make changing oil easier and a lot cleaner. Love how it starts with one pull every time.
