Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded Expectations I purchased this machine to replace a much older and smaller snow thrower. This machine easily cleared the moderate snow fall we received this winter. The engine started easily with the pull start. The 21-inch clearing width was a nice time saver. The snow thrower handled well almost walking itself down the driveway. The paddles cleared down to the concrete fairly well but some snow will kick back under the machine when lifted slightly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't believe it #1 Wheels are good for 10 or 20 feet then the left hand (looking forward) wheel jams and will not turn because it is snow packed between wheel and cowling. Every 10 feet. You have to either drag it backwards and/or shove it forwards or beat the wheel to get the packed snow off. I now have a crack in the hub from this procedure. It's killing me. #2 the pull rope has cut into the cowling about 1 1/2 inches. # 3 Just 2 days ago the shoot clip broke out from shoot. #4 In taking off the cover two (top and right) screws were ok. The left screw's plastic standoff was/is snapped off and stays with the screw. Now this 1x21hp is in its second season and for me it's last. I mowed my 3 acer lawn 26 years with a farmall cub then 11 years with a 54" o'turn cub cadet and loved them. This blower thing is ...... Ps they (at service) did say they knew about the snow build up but had no ideas for resolving this problem. Also they sent me a new cord assembly for when the current cord brakes from dragging in the plastic cowling. Thomas W Ruppel, Flushing Michigan

Rated 3 out of 5 by from snow packs on the wheel under drive belt I just bought this snow blower 1/20/25016 and the first time i used it on about 3 inches of snow the wheel under the drive belt stopped turning on count of snow packing up and the wheel stopped. Had to clean the snow and ice off several times. It is a poor design from cub cadet. On 1/22/2016 we had 8 plus inches of snow and the same problem. It was a night mare to stop and clean the wheel off. I would give it 5 stars it this did not happen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good power and snow removal but average otherwise. This unit has power to spare and successfully throws any kind of snow you throw at it. The functionality is superb. However, on my third use a wheel fell off. Turns out they are held on with a push-cap. My radio flyer wheels are held on with a push-cap. Seems to me a more secure method of mounting the wheels should be used. More in sync with the cost and importance of the unit. The service department is sending parts (a new push-cap, a washer and a spacer) but until they arrive it's back to the old shovel. This is probably a quality control issue at the factory. The wheel seemed a little wobbly when it arrived.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works for me. This is perfect for here in Boise. We receive moderate amounts of snow and this machine handles it well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good for thick slushy snow I have been able to use this machine now 5 times this winter. The first time I got to use it it was throwing 1.5" of very heavy slush without clogging. Awesome. It starts quick and easy. The more I have used it on regular snow however, I have been somewhat disappointed. It is the loudest machine I have owned and feels like it is going to fall apart as soon as I engage the auger. It seems to throw as much snow under the auger back at my feet as it does out the chute. The skinny short and curved handles hurt my hands after 5 mins of using. They would be well served to put an inch of foam all around the handles. The odd shape only gives you a small area for your hands and you feel like you are pushing your daughters toy baby carriage. It has been two hours and my hands still hurt. I do like the chute controls and the headlight has helped with night work. I am up in the air about recommending this, but since I have to choose, I will say yes, I recommend it, but barely. In the review section, I don't understand what "smart attitude" means.
