Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time saver I have been a loyal craftsman owner since the 90s when I actually did lawn mower repair for Sears. I had the opportunity to use a XT2 46” deck and decided to bring one home after much consideration of the cost vs other brands and even the XT1 versions for home improvement centers. Well, to put it into a few words I upgraded from a 42” deck craftsman to the cub 46” and my making time went from almost 2 hrs for my acre down to a little over an hour. I don’t choose anything over a 2 blade deck width as 3 or more blades can be very difficult to maintain an even cut. I really enjoy this tractor. My only complaints are that the tires are of a very soft compound and are prone to damage and leaks ( I’ve already had 2 leaks and am thinking of installing tubes in my tires.) the other issue is the seat safety switch is overly sensitive which causes the deck to shut down when you accidentally take bumps in the yard. Other those issues I am a very happy owner. By the way the engine has great power. I mowed through grass and leaves that would’ve shut down my older machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lawn tractor I bought this about six weeks ago and have mowed my lawn about three times. I had to adjust the mower blade height from side to side a little but I,ve had to do that on my last two other lawn tractors also. So far I'm very happy with mower. Rides very nice, steers extremely easy, cuts excellent, with plenty of power and gas consumption is as good as my old tractor which had 11 h.p. less. I like the fact that it comes with front bumper and even arm rest. My old one didn't. I like the electric PTO versus the manual. Now time will tell if it all holds up. I also like the appearance which I personally thinks looks great. Appears to be very easy to perform maintenance on; Changing blades, changing oil and filter and air filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy So Far So far I am happy with this product, BUT time can change that. I had a Cub Cadet previously and it was a (2004?) 42" LT1018 model and even had the better Twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine that some of these models had. So that is my reference. I just bought this 2018 XT2 LX46 model. It's exactly what I wanted. I didn't quite trust the fuel injection models yet (from any maker). Didn't want the bigger 50" or other makers 48" because they have 3 blades which I've read leave a more unlevel grass cut and their baggers are much more expensive. Of course if your yard is large and requires these larger models, then they're a must. TRACTOR: So far I am impressed with power and the mowing deck. I can cut very high wet grass at a good speed without the mower bogging down and the cut is great. The mower has so much power, much more powerful than the LT1018 with the Vtwin even did. I have to be careful because I already have wipped my head back, when sitting forward and easing into the gas pedal. The take off is more sensitive and powerful than the LT1018 was ever. Make sure to set your anti-scalp wheels so that they are 1/2" from the ground when cutting at your desired height. Didn't realize the dealer delivered setting was 1.5" from the ground at the 2.5" cutting height setting. I scalped my yard pretty bad as I have small dips, bumps, holes and hills all over it even though it looks mainly level. My old LT1018 was delivered with the anti-scalp wheels adjusted to my normal cutting height so never had to worry about them as I have good cuts. Comparing the new XT2 LX46 (46") to my older LT1018 (42") is pretty easy. The new XT2 is larger and taller. My hood would fit under my deck bench with the LT1018. The XT2 hood is probably 10" to tall to fit and probably at least 12" taller than the LT1018 hood. The XT2 is built much more robust with heavier duty steering and front end components along with a supposedly better K46 Tuff Torque Transmission, and much more powerful engine with auto choke. The seat is much more comfortable as it's a high back with arms compared to just a low back on the LT1018. Also I don't notice the XT2 frame/body flexing as much when cutting my deck. The LT1018 would flex so bad the hood would pop up. I chose the XT2 LX46 over the XT1 LT46 for Better front wheel bearings, Better tires, Higher HP engine, Engine with Smart Choke, Electric PTO, Higher capacity battery, Front HD Bumper, and arm rests on the seat. The minimal cost of the XT2 LX46 over the XT1 LT46 made it a bargain for all the extras for a more capable tractor. BAGGER: The standard bagger is still expensive and I was disappointed with its performance but I found this performance is standard with all brands and models. Even the brands and models costing 2X the price of my model seem to have the same issue. Since I never had a bagger for the LT1018, I guess I had higher expectations than I should have. The bagger excels in performance with shorter, dry grass. However with longer cuts of moist grass, the bagger attachment at the deck clogs almost immediately. Very easy to tell as the sound of the mower deck changes, and grass starts getting spit out in front of the deck by the chute. Best bet if grass is moist or wet, is to cut it without the bagger first, then make another round over it with the bagger as it will pick it up then without clogging. Unfortunately at my residence, the grass is mostly always moist so using my lawn sweeper may have been a better choice, saving the money spent on the bagger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower!! I bought my Cub Cadet a year ago now, I'm very PLEASED With my Cub Cadet LXE 46 . My mower has a fabricated deck, The Kawasaki engine , more than enough power . I've mowed some big over grown areas. I've got 85 hrs now that I own the machine. WELL DONE !! GREAT MACHINE! !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower I've had my Cub Cadet since May, and I am very pleased. It's very easy to operate and does a great job. My property is approximately 2 acres, and some of it is sloped. The tractor handles it all very well. I did my first oil change, and it went well. It was a little difficult getting the wrench around the oil filter, but I managed. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not my favorite. At far as design goes, half I lean towards my 12 yo DYT 4000. Pros of this Cub Cadet are: Ease to remove three pins to take the deck off. Cool looking. The deck shoot does spread the cut grass evenly. Cons: Have had this machine for two weeks and have yet to completely mow the whole yard with two attempts. Belt came off the PTO. Bent blades. Maybe my bad, but then again, should they be better protected? I'm sure it's a government regulation, but the addition of turning on the reverse while mowing light in addition to turning back the switch is a pain. The seat doesn't seem to be full and when repositioning myself, the blades stop, but the tractor keeps running. Have to back up and restart the blades to cover what was driven over. PTO switch isn't in an ideal location for a quick shut off (E-stop). Headlights are always on. LED is cool, but a wider pattern for turns would be nice. Maybe what I'm used to, but I would rather have the battery under the hood and a larger tank under the seat. Also would rather have a better designed foot drive control system or just a fender control without having to lock the speed in place. Also a safety hazard as you have to either speed up or tap the brake to unlock the speed setting. Trying reverse or lifting the speed lock doesn't work - ooops. Also a hard stop when taking the speed lock off. Also not crazy about the plastic hood. The cool looking yellow color attracts those summer gnats in my area. The cream colored wheels now seem dorky. You may buy a similar tractor under a different brand and price. To me, Cub Cadet was a farmer's mowing machine. It's been awhile, but it has lost that tough tractor attitude and high quality of several decades ago. Go to an antique tractor show. Look at the old Cub Cadets. On the second attempt to mow, I got a little used to the foot speed control as a constant control. It's not meant to be a toggle as I would hope for. The

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First tractor, very pleased This is the first tractor I have ever owned, I read reviews on a lot of brands and decided on the RTX46. I have been very pleased so far. Cuts great, very easy to work on, (maintenance), and my grandsons have a blast riding with me. I purchased from Cub Cadet dealer in Yorktown, Va. and received the best service ever. Highly recommended!!
