Step 1

To ensure safety, remove the spark plug ignition wire from your walk-behind mower.

Step 2

Unscrew the gas cap.

Step 3

If you are using the oil siphon pump, notice the different color tubes of the siphon pump. Place the orange tube into the gas tank of your walk-behind mower and the black tube into a proper disposal container.

Step 4

Prime the pump by pumping the handle three or four times. Once the liquid begins to flow, it will continue flowing without further pumping.

Step 5

Remove the oil siphon pump. Add new gas to the walk-behind mower. Make sure you also add a fuel stabilizer like Sta-Bil to extend the life of your fuel and prevent further buildup. Once this is done, you can replace the gas cap and reconnect the spark plug ignition wire. Take care to dispose of the gas properly.
