Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hoped for better performance I have owned an SC900 self-propelled mower for over a month. Good features: 1. Walk behind pace is good, lever controls speed well. 2. Adjustable handle height provides comfortable hand level. 3. No grass chute, it only mulches or bags which is ideal around flower beds to eliminate grass clippings from landing on and among landscape plants. 4. Debris bag easy to remove and reinstall. 5. Rear wheel drive has plenty of torque. Problems and design issues: 1. Kohler engine does not want to start periodically even after running for a while. Have to manually tinker with auto-choke, remove air filter, and remove and replace oil dipstick before it starts. Why? I don't know. (Vapor lock?) 2. Loud annoying rattles. Probably plastic decorative parts. 3. Bogs down when mulching juicy (but not wet) grass. Doesn't have to be very tall. 4. Plastic decorative part at top of handle pinches fingers. It also has corners that stick out that can create bruises on abdomen of person using mower. This part easily pops loose when rubbing against post or tree or corner of building. It snaps back in but leads to increased chance of fingering pinching until noticed. 5. 'Run handle' nestles into a groove in 'drive handle' and can pinch skin on palm of hand. 6. For the price, there should be no problems. 7. Height adjustment knob for wheels sticks out to far, snags branches on shrubs and decorative fencing. Drive so powerful it bends fencing. 8. Large and heavy, can be a work out to mow around obstacles. 9. Just not a fan of auto-choke technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved Lawn Mower I am very satisfied with this new model. The larger bag and wider deck makes mowing the lawn easier and a little quicker. These improvements are a plus with this mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy! Looking for a mower both my husband and I could use. This was our first Cub Cadet and we are thrilled with our selection. Love the features on this model/brand - starts on first pull, handle height adjusts to me (5'6") or my husband (6"2), only one lever to adjust the height of the mow, easy to remove bagger. The rear self-propelled drive has really helped with getting up small hills and makes easy work of mowing. Maintenance needs are minimal ---we've had the mower almost 3 months now and know it is going to last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-Made! Good center of gravity and easy start. I bought this for the 23" cut and the rear-wheel drive, but it has exceeded my expectations. This is a great upgrade.. Good center of gravity means easy turning. Has a good speed and the engine has plenty of power to plow through taller grass at high speed. It's so easy to start that my wife and 8 yr old (with plenty of supervision!) were able to start it one-armed, first shot. The propulsion is so good that when you push the lever, you don't have to put any pressure on moving the mower itself. I now mow my yard in 2/3 the time and use less fuel. The height-adjustable and easily-stowable handle is nice when we take turns mowing. However, the height-adjustment lever sticks out to the left about 1" past the footprint of the wheels, so if you're mowing by a wall or fence, do it on the right side. Hopefully they'll fix this on future iterations. I'd buy this again and again. I'm sold on the Cub-Cadet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in class for price point New owner of SC900 and so far mower is flawless. Powerful, agile and starts on first pull. Made well, although the one lever wheel adjust level protrudes about an inch too far outside of main deck.
