Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest feature Fell in love with this tractor the first time I used it a month ago. The steering ease and 16" radius is fantastic. So far it has been trouble free.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Machine But.... I purchased my XT1 GT50 from Home Depot (online) 2 seasons ago and although I really enjoy using it, it has not been without issues. My mowing area is about 2 acres, all hilly ground around a pond and this would be my 3rd Cub Cadet. The first issue I encountered was at 12 hours of operation, not even a month old, and hydrostatic transmission blew out under normal mowing operation. (At the time of this review I have 76 hours of operation on it.) With that my first mowing season with it was shot as it took many calls to Cub Cadet and it took the Cub Cadet authorized shop nearly 7 weeks to get it repaired and back to me. (Customer service in handling the issue was awesome, it just took a long time for the authorized shop to make the repair.) Another ongoing issue I have is with the choke/throttle all in one cable it has to be started at full throttle. Many times I have issues with the motor blowing white oil smelling smoke out of it at startup. Also there are many times (after I throttle it down) the motor backfires and pop's loudly when I shut it off. Several times while mowing it has blown out a puffs of white oil smelling smoke. Midway through my second season of mowing I began having issues with the mowing deck. It wasn't cutting flat and I was not able to lift the deck to the highest setting. Last week (about 70 hours of operation) the hardware on the top of the deck came apart. The pulleys not attached to the blade spindles and the belt tension assembly fastening hardware had backed off and almost came unbolted resulting in the belt to pull in on itself and all of the hardware. Not wanting to go through another 7 week repair ordeal, I pulled the desk and made the repairs myself. In doing so I went through every nut and bolt on the machine and found many were not tight at all. This lead to the discovery that on one of the front rims and on the deck a couple of the grease fitting were missing and by the looks of it, they were never installed. Also, as comfortable as the seat on the machine is, boy is it slick and hard to stay on while mowing hilly area's. I added the armrest to help with that issue. The handling and turning ability of this machine is far better that previous models I have had and this newest series of Cub tractors is very attractive. I would also like to add that a friend had bought the exact same mower weeks before I purchased mine and he has not had any of the issues I have had. The only issue he has encountered has been his throttle cable assembly came apart in the cable housing at the dash. With all of this and assuming my issues are isolated, I would still recommend Cub Cadet products as these latest models are much improved over previous models I have had spanning a couple decades. Issues aside and hopefully behind me now I hope to get many years out of the machine and when its time is up, I will purchase another Cub Cadet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great mower horrible maintenance app. We bought out gt50 almost a year ago. After researching,we found the value of cubcadet was just so much better than the green or orange brands. Really happy with this mower and it’s features. Plenty of power, easy to use controls. Very well made. Heck, it even has cruse control! My only negative is cub connect. worst app I’ve ever downloaded. If you read the App Store reviews you’ll understand. I really really recommend this garden tractor. I really recommend you DO NOT use cub connect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value- Excellent cut After much research and looking into older John Deere and Cub Cadet models on Craigslist, I decided to purchase this Garden Tractor in July of 2016, so I have had it little over 1 year or almost 2 growing seasons. This is my first time owning a piece of equipment like this as we moved to a rural 7 acres from a 1/4 acre subdivision lot where I used a self propelled Toro mower. I have fields as well as a large front lawn with some being flat, some gently rolling and some very hilly. While the primary purpose was to cut grass, I also wanted the option for snow removal of a large driveway and the potential for attachments due to having a large garden and pasture. While I was hesitant to buy a Cub Cadet after using my father in law's which was about 10 years old and had numerous issues from the moment he bought it, I did some research and it seemed Cub Cadet had addressed many of those concerns with the newer lineup. I was/ am impressed with the new clean/ even cutting deck design along with the tight smooth turning radius and the Kohler engine as well as other frame and chasis improvements for longevity. I have towed a 48" plug aeration attachment across hilly fields and lawn while mowing and it has had no issues with the weight!. While I had my fields brush hogged once last year due to the height before purchasing this tractor, I let it grow up to around waist height this spring and it did a great job on the 1st cutting- even churning thru tree saplings 18- 24" in height. The led lights are plenty bright when I have mowed in the dark and I am somewhat surprised at how much I can mow on 1 tank of gas. The only issues I have had is that the belt was improperly installed when I received the tractor and it shredded within the first 100' of mowing and the tech had a hard time replacing. The front wheel on the deck falls off occasionally due to the vibrations/ mowing, but is easily fixable. I would say that greater rear wheel tire tread would be appreciated for this model as it can easily spin on dry grass that may hit certain types of ruts or swales. Overall a very good choice for those wanting something less than a full tractor, but more than a riding lawnmower!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought our XT1 GT50 may 2015, it was a new floor model we used it for mowing our yard only (3.5) acres fairly level no hills. I put it away for the winter with around 30 hours on it and went out this spring to get it ready and found a puddle of fluid coming from the right rear axle seal not happy!!!!!!
