Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works for us. Bought it a month ago. It's took me a little time to get use to how to operate it. But is was a very short time. Very easy to steer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good buy in snow throwers I bought the Cub Cadet 2X 28" HP snow thrower because I decided I am through shoveling 100' of driveway after snows. My driveway is partially shared with a neighbor. The entire driveway is about 200'. I did a lot of research on gas snow throwers and decided on the Cub Cadet 2X 28" HP based upon a combination of price, features, size, reviews, and it being rated a "best buy" by Consumer Reports. I cannot yet review about its performance because we still have several months before we can expect any significant snowfalls in this area. So, my review will focus upon first impressions. The 2X 28" HP appears to be a well designed snow thrower that puts controls where they need to be. I tested everything, and everything works. So, I did not have to contact the store or customer service for anything after unboxing and assembling. Assembly was straightforward once it became clear how best to route the snow chute cables. Unfortunately, the supplied manual is not much help due to the fact that Cub Cadet tried to include too many different snowblower models in the same manual. Thus, the manual is best used for a reference rather than a step-by-step guide for assembly. I would suggest that buyers study published photographs of an assembled unit to best understand how to assemble it (note: YouTube videos of snowblower assemblies are also instructive). My suggestion to Cub Cadet is to completely redo the manual. Some reviewers noted that they noticed that the inside of the box was stained with oil when they opened it. Mine was not. There was a pouch of oil included. So, in order to test it, I filled the crankcase with the supplied oil until the dipstick showed full. Then I added some stabilized regular gas, and started it up. It took several pulls to start it when it was cold. But it started with one pull when warm. The motor was loud, but no louder than average for outdoor power equipment. Consumer Reports recommends hearing protection, but they recommend hearing protection for most of the outdoor power equipment they test. One feature that the unit did not have that I wanted was heated hand grips. I found that when shoveling 100' of driveway, my hands would eventually become very cold despite the fact that I wore heavy gloves. So, I decided to order the heated hand grips. A card supplied along with the manual showed the optional heated hand grips as part number 753-08698. But that part number is incorrect because it is for single headlight units. The correct part number for dual headlight units like the 2X 28" HP is 753-08824. Cub Cadet needs to correct that. Fortunately, the Cub Cadet webpage for the 2X 28" HP shows the correct heated hand grip part number. Buyers ordering heated hand grips should therefore use the Cub Cadet website rather than searching for that specific part number. When the hand grips arrived, I found that it was very easy to install them. The only issue was the utter impossibility of removing the existing black hand grips by simply attempting to pull them off. I ended up having to cut them off. Once I had the heated hand grips installed, I tested them to find that they get quite warm. I am not reviewing the features because all of the features are described and reviewed in many places on the Internet. I found all of the features worked as described. My only comment about features is to note that the snow thrower moves forward adequate speed with the transmission set to "1". I will have to wait for snow to find out whether any speed higher than "1" would be useful. It seems to me that they would be quite fast. One other note: my driveway is notoriously unlevel. So, setting the height of the skid shoes was problematical, and the height I set them to will not be perfect for every area of my driveway. Consumer Reports noted that this unit's surface cleaning was only rated as "good". They probably used a flat surface for surface cleaning ratings. Most driveways are probably not 100% flat. So, I am not sure how meaningful their surface cleaning rating will be in the real world. I rated the unit four stars rather than five partially because of the poor quality of the manual and partially because I cannot rate its performance until we get enough snow to actually use it. If the website allows updating a rating I will do that if appropriate when I am able to test it against snow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot get it to run! Bought a cub cadet LX42, delivered September 23rd, 2019! They showed me the features, but when I try to run it, it keeps stalling! As soon as I release the brake it stalls! No the brake lever is not down! I’m ready to return it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best snow blower I have ever used I have had this snow blower for 2+ years and it is by far the best I have ever had. I owned 2 other brands before this one. I have a very long driveway (holds 7 cars) and can only throw the snow one way. I just love the way this one handles turns and the power of the snow thrower. By the way I am a 78 year old woman and this machine handles so easily that I actually look forward to using it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moves the snow Starts easy, works great, can remove 6” off my 600ft drive in around 30min. My only constructive comment is that the mechanism that controls the chute elevation angle doesn’t work very well. Other than that I’m very happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great I've had this snow blower a few years now, and have had only good uses from it. I would recommend that everyone should get one. I couldn't give it five star because it needs a fuel shut off switch to keep from running fuel out of tank at the end of each season. But still very much worth buying.
