Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waited much too long for this... I've owned plenty of small engine equipment for a variety of different purposes - since I have a pretty small area to clear I couldn't justify adding one to the fleet, but have to say that my only regrets are waiting too long to get one. The 2X 26" is a nice thrower, starts up easy on the first pull when cold - odd though that you have to choke it on restarts even after it is/should be well warmed up. I've yet to bother with the electric start but if it continues as it has so far - can't say it will need much use. We really got walloped with some heavy snow storms this season and the very nice plow guy was killing me - hence the new 2X 26". I have a small drive way with 2 cars that pretty much take up all the space, but the areas where snow does accumulate leave few placed to throw it and this year we're pretty near the 5' mark for the season and it's only January 1st. Some of what I need to do is throw the snow to areas where I can work at it and it's quite the ballet going on but the machine handles it well. The heavy stuff that is left at the end of the driveway is cut through pretty easily as long as I don't let it set too long. I'm on a corner lot with 2 long walks to clear and the machine does this well. I had seen another person mention the speeds and I do agree that there could be some design improvements. 1 gear forward is about right for someone learning the machine but there is quite a jump as you use 2nd. I mostly use it to 'setup' for my passes. On maintenance, the manual is a bit light in the details department - specifically, I'd like to see a torque spec for the oil drain plug. Could be all the aviation and automotive certifications giving some bias - but I'm a firm believer that things are best done by the book. The power steering works perfectly and would only be appreciated fairly if I had more experience with machines that do not have it - a situation I'm happy with imagining without experiencing. I considered that perhaps a means for switching off the headlights would be nice - but on 2nd thought feel it's a bit of added safety when working near the road/traffic. I'm not sure if the 40' spec for throwing distance is accurate - but there's a lot of variation and undoubtedly related to the type of snow that you are moving - easily 20' and probably more. The machine was setup and delivered by Home Depot - was not happy with the skid shoes adjustment as the shave plate was a bit close to the ground for my likes so I had to raise it a bit - quick adjustment with some 1/8" thick shim stock on there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two 6" snowfalls review Maine Used 2x now, about 4-6 inches of regular weight snow and 3-4 inches of snow covered with some freezing rain First of all the snowblower is nice to look at, runs very quiet compared to my 2003 9hp Craftsman I just let go. Love all the options, throws snow a little less distance than I thought it would but ok so far, if I crank up throttle it throws about 15-25 ft, not sure where 40ft comes into play unless really fluffy snow which I have not experienced in the first two uses. My only real complaints so far is that from forward Levels 1-6, 1 is too slow as expected, but when I move to speed 2, it really is too fast, I dont see a need for me to even use gears 3-6 as 2 is too fast , need a speed between gears 1-2 , big jump from 1 to 2 does not make sense, my craftsman I used speeds 1-3, and sometimes 4, so Cub Cadet needs to work on its speeds. Also, lights are great, but you can not turn them off, always on, which is bizarre to me, I'd like the option to control the lights if I want, I have headlamps if needed, so no on/off switch is kind of a big miss I believe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First 2 stage thrower This is my first 2 stage snowblower and I'm very please with my purchase. It does a good job throwing wet snow and had no problem getting through a foot of it the first weekend I had it. What a back saver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is one of a kind Purchased this product and thought it was to heavy to operate, but it wasn't with the power steering feature, and the chute direction handle, even the speed features makes me want to throw snow all the time, i recommend this thrower to any one plus the manufacturer warranty is wonderful, even though i havent had to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Efficient Snowblower After 20 years it was time for a new snowblower. Researched a bunch and spec wise this was as good or better than any 2 stage. The price being so reasonable I bought it. Purchased it through Home Depots website. Got a 2 week delivery window and low and behold after 1 week got it delivered to my door at no delivery charge, WOW. It came in a box on a pallet (well packaged). The bit of assembly was easy and instructions were easy to follow. No oil came with it but when checking the dip stick Cub Cadet had already installed that. Took about an hour to assemble everything including adjusting the slid plates. Put a tank of gas in it, gave it 2 pulls and it started right up. Haven't needed the electric start yet but I'm sure that will work fine. Love the 2 headlights on it, nice when plowing at night. The first use was very heavy, wet snow, this machine went right through it and never bogged down at all. Have used it twice after and it runs and blows snow just great. I also purchased a Cub Cadet lawnmower in August and love that. I can give folks one hint I learned from a small engine repair shop that a friend of my daughter owns, Ethanol gas and small engines are not friends. Consider using recreational fuel (ethanol free gas) in your small engines. I spoke with a Cub Cadet technician and they told me using this would not effect the warranty in any way, This will help the sudden OOPS it won't start because your system is all plugged up because of the ethanol gas. To date this is a great purchase and I would buy it again. Cub Cadet is a great product!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from love the power steering and other features. Least expensive model with power steering. Can't believe how quiet the motor is compared to my old MTD8HP. Love the larger plastic skags. Head lights are very helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product My Cub Cadet Snow thrower works great. Starts easy,(pull or electric), throws snow as far as you want with chute control. Shave plate cleans drive down to the pavement. Steering trigger controls took a little getting used to. Wish the lights had on/off switch, when machine is on, lights are on. Would recommend this machine.
