Headline: How To Level The Deck On A Cub Cadet® Lawn Mower

One of the keys to achieving a premium cut is making sure your Cub Cadet® lawn mower’s deck is level. If you notice that your grass is cut uneven, then it’s probably time to level the deck. This helps ensure the mower blades are at the correct distance from the ground on both sides and that it’s positioned correctly from front to back.
Follow these instructions to level your Cub Cadet® riding lawn mower’s deck. Before you start, remember to always consult your operator’s manual for detailed deck leveling instructions as these steps may vary slightly depending on your model. How to level your lawn mower deck:

  1. Place your mower on a flat level surface. Turn the engine off and make sure it is cool. Remove the ignition key. Disconnect the spark plug ignition wire and engage the parking brake.
  2. Make sure you are wearing gloves, safety goggles, and any other applicable safety gear.
  3. To level the deck from the front to rear, place the deck lift lever in the middle position.
  4. Rotate the blade closest to the discharge chute parallel to the lawn mower.
  5. Measure the height both the front and rear blades from the tip to the ground. Refer to your operator’s manual for proper height differences between front and rear.
  6. To raise the front of the deck, tighten the hex nut. If the front of the deck needs to be lowered, loosen the hex nut.
  7. Level the deck from side to side by rotating the blades perpendicular to the lawn mower.
  8. Measure the height of the blade tips on each side of the deck from the ground.
  9. Adjust the deck by loosening the hex bolt on the left hangar bracket.
  10. Raise or lower the deck by turning the adjustment gear.
  11. When both blade tips have the same measurement from the ground, tighten the hex bolt.
  12. Reconnect the spark plug ignition wire.
