The following video will show you how to install a double bagger on your Ultima Series ZT Zero Turn mower. The tools needed for installation include two 9/16 in. socket wrenches, two 1/2 in. socket wrenches, and two 7/16 in. socket wrenches. Depending on your model, the instructions in this video may vary slightly. Always be sure to check your operator's manual for detailed instructions.
Step 1: Prepare your Ultima zero-turn mower for maintenance. Place your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the mower off and make sure the engine is cool. Remove the ignition key, disconnect the spark plug ignition wire, and engage the parking brake. This helps ensure the machine doesn't start accidentally and cause you or those around you harm.
Step 2: Start by laying out the parts of the double bagger.
Step 3: Assemble mounting brackets. Install the 12 rubber pads into the adapter bracket.
Step 4: Remove the hitch bracket. Use a 1/2” socket or wrench to remove the hardware securing the hitch bracket.
Step 5: Install the hitch bracket adapter. For ZT1 models place 2 washers between the adapter and the hitch bracket.
Step 6: Hang the adapter bracket. Secure the adapter bracket to the hitch adapter. Using both 9/16” and 1/2'” wrenches to tighten the hardware on both sides.
Step 7: Vertical support installation. Slide the vertical support onto the mounting bracket. Secure the vertical support with a carriage bolt, washer and lock nut using both 9/16” and 1/2'” wrenches.
Step 8: Assemble hanger assembly. Using both 9/16” and 1/2” wrenches secure the hanger with two carriage bolts, washers and lock nuts.
Step 9: Snap the upper chute support in place.
Step 10: Snap the top cover support in place. Make sure the tab is locked in place.
Step 11: Install the top cover. Align the cover tabs and slide the mounting pin through the tabs to secure the top cover. Use a screwdriver to ease the pin into place.
Step 12: Install the bags on the hanger.
Step 13: Assemble the chute boot. Install the boot rod mount using the 7/16” nuts. Use two wrenches to tighten the hardware.
Step 14: Install the boot. Secure the boot with a wing knob.
Step 15: Install the tube. Thread the tube into the upper chute support counterclockwise.
Step 16: Connect the tube to the boot. Slide the tube over the top portion of the boot.
Step 17: Assemble the counterweight. Place protective decals on the inside of the weight hangers. Attach the weight, 3 weight plates and brackets with hex bolts and nuts. Use both 9/16” and 1/2” wrenches to tighten the hardware.
Step 18: Install the counterweight. Align the counterweight on the front axle of your zero-turn mower and attach it using hex bolts and nuts. Tighten the hardware using both 9/16” and 1/2” wrenches.
