Rated 5 out of 5 by from stability is key! I run a local city park, we mow around 100 acre of property. I recently purchased the new pro z 972 because our park is 80% hills. This thing is an absolute monster! Between the Kawasaki big block and the weighted front tires there is pretty much no stopping this thing. the mower sticks to the side of our park hill like glue. This thing not only cuts steep inclines with ease, it also stripes beautifully. If your looking for a new mower and want added comfort and stability i highly recommend you check out the pro z its AWESOME!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After a full season on our Pro Z 972 SD We own/operate a small horse farm in southwestern PA. that has varying natural obstacles, steep hills, with 5 fenced pastures, some with knee high grass, common areas, and a creek running through the property. I would like to add - before I purchased this mower, I read every review I could find, and the positives were close, and anything negative, must have been based on inaccuracies or hearsay. The zero turn, 4 wheel steering is a real time saver that safely allows me to mow very steep grades safely and efficiently. With the 72" deck, I can mow in/around hundreds of fence post or obstacles accurately without contact. The durability of this mower and deck is top notch, and withstands all the abuse you can dish out. Small branches, ground hog holes, are no match, plus the deck does not clog when mowing tall grass, even when wet. The power of the engine, though is a bit loud, (not loud enough for any less a rating) is awesome and takes me right up the hills or strait across the steepest grades on the property! The comfort of the seat is second to none. You will find that the seat absorbs anything uncomfortable, including hoof prints (in the dried mud) which will usually beat the heck out of you. Speaking of mud, I have yet to get stuck or find myself in a compromised position with this mower. The finished product, the stripping in the common areas/pastures, resemble a big league ball park. If you are considering this mower, I highly recommend it, and am very satisfied with our purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cub Tank Howdy, I have a property that has hills and climbs everywhere. We bought the house over a year ago and was very nervous in how to mow the place. I had the local mower shop come out to inspect the property which is 2 acres. He turned up with 2 other guys and all said to me that there is only one mower that would handle the job, Cub Cadet Pro Z 972 SD. I said before I start buying anything bring one out to test the slopes. A week later he came out with a few people including the main man from Cub Cadet. I have never seen anything like it !. This mower is a leopard tank. It’s bullet proof and would withstand land mines :). I had a test drive and bought it on the spot. This mower even though it’s expensive is the best in the market. The power train is unbelievable awesome power. The seat is amazing we air adjust, I was the right person to test it given I had had 4 spinal ops with steel in me spine. To sum it all up this machine is the best on the planet. I can literally mow nearly upside down so yo speak. It’s a credit to Cub Cadet you guys have delivered the best zero turn on the planet. Thank you you solved my slope mowing issues, Wayne from Australia

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, but came with multiple issues. I purchased this unit a little over a year ago, and it now has 125 hours on it. The primary thing that sold me was the incredible seat comfort vs all other machines I tried, and the fact that the steering wheel and foot controls were very similar to my two John Deere compacts that I've mowed with for over 30 years. The quality of the cut is very good, and the stripper roller acceptable but not nearly as good as a Simplicity. It needs to be more adjustable, and spring loaded. Early issues were: the steering wheel came off on my first mow, and the deck hanger nuts came loose and the deck became unlevel. I spent $16 to buy 4 additional nuts and used Loc Tite and doubled nutted the hanger bolts. More recently, the front center anti-scalping wheel bolt broke and I ran over and destroyed one of the wheels (I haven't checked the blades yet). My local dealer did a great job of getting the destroyed parts covered under the warranty and getting them to me in a timely manner. The location of the power lift rocker switch is terrible....its placement seems like an after thought. I added a steering wheel spinner which greatly increased the ease of quick turns...I would definitely recommend adding one if you haven't already. This machine is a terrible gas guzzler ! I can mow my 8 acres with either of my John Deeres and use less than 3 gallons of diesel. The Cub drinks about 7 gallons of gas per mowing. WHY DOESN'T CUB OFFER A DIESEL OPTION ?!?! Based on these initial issues, I'm very concerned about the longevity of this machine, and if it will stand up over time. Hopefully it does, because it's an incredibly comfortable zero turn to mow with !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro Z 972 SD is King! I have owned this machine now for 3 months. It's a beast! I have owned John Deere machines before, so like some I was a little skeptical. Cub Cadet has really done it's homework and hit it out of the park with this machine. The cut quality is amazing. The build quality is even better! I moved to a property that has 37 acres. I have a long driveway I mow on both sides, up and down. The terrain is rough along the driveway. The air ride seat is amazing. Back behind my house it drops off, I am not 100% sure of the grade but the Pro Z 972 handles it with ease. The hill portion that I mow is prairie grass with some smaller Chinese Elms. 1 inch in diameter at times. This mower deck is so well constructed it rolls over them without hesitation. I know this thing isn't a brush hog, but with it's deck construction and 35hp, it goes over stuff most zero turns can't. If my 972 were to disappear tomorrow, I'll be purchasing another one! My ONLY regret is not purchasing it with the self leveling seat.
