Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor reliability I purchased last yr from tsc. Worked good for half the season then wouldn't idle. Took back to tsc, they sent out for repair. Got it back after 2 months and it seemed to run good. Started it this season and it wont idle again! Waste of time waiting for repairs again. Switching to different brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY I purchased this weed eater about a year ago, And when I first used it it was great, I never had any trouble. Fast forward to now, i am currently on my 4th one(thank goodness for replacement plans). The first 2 I purchased lasted about 3 months a piece. I had 2 broke pull cords and a wore out head out of them. Now mind you I only weedeat for about 30 to 45 minutes each time I mow. So each of these only had a few hours a piece on them. Then last month the weed eater I had only used a handful of times this season and was brand new. Absolutely would not start(stopped half way through my yard). Then while trying to get it to start back the entire pull cord assembly broke. Now 3 weeks later I am weed eating around my house with the brand new one and it stops running and the bull cord breaks. Saying I am fed up is an absolute understatement. People pay a lot of money for these products and they are completley unreliable. I dont have time to take a brand new weed eater back to get it replaced every week. For this to happen 1 or 2 times I understand, but for this to be the 4th one??? This will be the last cub cadet product that I ever purchase and you can take that to the bank. Oh and I purchased a wheeled sting trimmer, which I am currently on my 2nd one. So we shall see.......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features This 2 cycle gas trimmer is a hoss. It comes complete with a 27cc motor, fixed line straight shaft trimmer, and brush cutter. This trimmer is Ideal for medium to heavy-duty use. It will sling the grass and then some with a 17-inch diameter. My husband has used and owned many other brands expensive and cheap. This one is by far the best he has ever owned. He trimmed knee-high grass, weeds, honeysuckles, and 3/4 in poke salad in a 30x60 feet space for close to an hour. He used it around trees, fencing, and some center blocks. The trimmer never slowed at all, and the fixed line was amazing. He never had to change out the string. You can tell he used it but it still has a lot of life left on the string. His old trimmers it would have taken hours with multiple string changes and tangles. No more for hum, he is spoiled and will never go back. Less time doing chores and more time for family. As mentioned above it is a hoss. He is 6.0' foot tall, and 230 lbs. He had to use the strap. It made it so much easier and spread the weight of the trimmer. Typically he just wears safety glasses and doesn't get much grass up that high. If you are not careful it will cover you up. He recommends trying it out in an area not so bad. The manual recommends tilting the trimmer head down 30 degrees and slightly right, also cutting from left to right. This helped a lot. The brush cutter is good on smaller brush, 1/2 inch or less. It worked ok, but I wouldn't use for thick brush. It came in the box almost complete. He had to add the cutting shield, barrier bar, and clip-on strap. The trimmer shaft and brush cutter shaft just slides in and locks in with a pin and twist knob. Both are easy to change in and out. If you have a mower with a pull behind cart you can have it all with you and change in and out with ease. It came with a can of pre-mixed 2 cycle oil and gas, a packet of oil mixture, 6 extra sting that is super easy to change out as well. No more having to remember which way does twine, holding all together as you try and put in back in the head unit. Especially those double string trimmers. Like I said above my husband will never go back. You can tell just from the feel and function of the trimmer and motor it is made of good quality and will last for a long time. The manual gives all the information as far setup, trimming, maintenance and storing. If you are on the fence about getting one of these go to the store and hold one of these bad boys. You will see the difference and new features that make it better than others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use for a smaller woman This is the perfect weedeater for a shorter person to use. Others that we have purchased have been too heavy for me to use, so I was unable le to help my husband with yard work. This one, I can handle easily on my own. It lasted a good amount of time before it ran out. Definitely recommend for small yard jobs. The edging feature works well too along walkways.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Indestructible Quality Out of all the gas weed eaters I've ever used this one is the best quality made. First, it's so nice to have a brush cutter. I live on a lot of land, and this makes it nice to be able to attach it onto my weed eater. The brush cutter has just enough power for my small amount of foliage/brush that grows against my trees. Second, this weed eater is amazing. A BEAST! Easy to operate, easy to change out the string/cable, and easy to start (two fingers). This Cub Cadet weed eater has the power of a beast too. You will not go wrong if you purchase this product, especially if you're a strong man (weight), I was quite pleased with this product. Comes with premixed fuel/oil and extra cable. The only downfalls I could find would be the weight and a little more padding added onto the strap would make this the perfect yard tool, and the only reasons for my 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cub Cadet BC 280 Is Very Impressive I was slightly concerned that the Cub Cadet BC 280 would be too heavy for me to operate, but once I tried using it with the strap attached, I had no problems at all. It’s very easy to operate. It cuts through all of those pesky weeds and tall grass with ease. Switching out to the brushcutter attachment was easy. I was impressed with how powerful the brushcutter was. Both attachments make it easy to reach under and around places that I can’t cut with the lawnmower. Very happy with the trimmer/ brushcutter and the results. My yard looks great! After seeing how nice my yard looks, my Dad is asking if he can borrow it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I have this trimmer and although I haven't used the brush cutter yet, I easily replaced my old edger with this one. This one starts every time and I like how the "string" is stiffer and doesn't require tapping to let more out. You just use the string as-is until it wears down after several uses (I usually get 2-3 mowing/edgings out of one set). I'm curious to see how it is finding replacement string, but I'd imagine this is the new age and hardware stores likely carry it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won’t start Bought a BC 280 from tractor supply. Used the 40-1 pre-mixed fuel. Followed the directions. Will not start.. took it back and got another brand new BC 289. Also will not start at all... surely it can’t be that poorly made

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I was so excited to get this! I live on an acre and a half of land and needed to remove some weeds and brush. I couldn’t get it to start at first. Finally after 20 minutes it was running but not well. I had to adjust the choke to halfway to stop the high idling and after 20 minutes it started stalling. I checked the lines and the fuel tank and all looked good. It never started again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Solid Product I purchased my BC280 during a sale at Tractor Supply about 3 months ago. It has worked fantastic, and its very easy to start as long as you follow the instructions. I went with the 2 stroke series over the 4 stroke because I was intending to use a lot of the TrimmerPlus attachments, and didn't want to worry about an oil in various positions. I have used this trimmer with the provided string trimmer and also with a blower attachment, hedge trimmer, and edger. These work very well, and this motor has plenty of power to blast through anything I use it for. I have not had the chance to try out the included brush cutter, but will later in the fall. My only complaint would be the weight balance with the string trimmer attached, but this is easily fixed by adjusting the location of the D ring grip. I ended up purchasing a Darwin Grip for mine, and now I can run it for hours with almost zero fatigue. Also love being able to quickly break down the unit to store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Run away I put maybe ten hours on this trimmer and the muffler plugged. (Yes Iixed the fuel correclty) its non serviceable so I had to get a new one. No one not even cub cadet dealers stock parts so you have to have it shipped to you. After the new muffler I put another couple hours on it and now it refuses to run entirely. When it did work even brand new you'll end up needing shoulder surgery before it'll actually start. I worked as a county landscaper for years so yes I know how to use string trimmers. You get what you pay for with this cheap purchase = cheap junk

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Recoil Starter Broken After 2 days I buy the Cub Cadet weed eater BC280 and at first thought it was a decent unit. However on the Second day of use the Recoil Starter had broken and the cord would not coil back. Set this in for warranty so hopefully this should be covered if not then this would be a very expensive disappointment. Would not recommend at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So awesome Wow I got this about a month ago right after all the rains. The grass was so high and I was wonder ng how we'd get it down. This is literally the perfect product. I'm not used to using gas for these, but that doesn't bother me too much actually. Very good at trimming the yard down and super fun actually.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value! I have used this trimmer in three times so far and it has performed well. It is not heavy and easy to handle. It has good power when I squeezed it to go faster during higher grass cutting. The attachment is easy to remove and replace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cub cadet gas trimmer loved this gas trimmer. It assembled very easily. You can change the string very easily with no problem. I used it first time to edge my lawn and it worked very nicely and I found it super light compared to previous models I've used. I don’t think it was too loud not compared to other trimmers I used in the past. I trimmed the bushes in the front and back of my yard and it was very lightweight and easy to handle. I would recommend this gas trimmer to any of my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent seeder and brush cutter Got this for my husband. We recently purchased 6 acres and 3 of them are wooded. He loves using this to trim around trees and to clear brush as well. It runs well and doesn't run thru gas fast at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy To Manuever! This trimmer is easy to manuever. It has adequate power for completing the tasks of cleaning the brush and edging my yard. This trimmer is a good product and would be easy for anyone to use for lawncare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! Great power! It’s been many years since I have had a new trimmer. This model not only trims the weeds but has a brush cutter in the package. I was amazed to say that it even came with pre-mix for the fuel. Unit was very easy to assemble and after following the instructions started right up. It’s a little different than the older models as you need to follow the directions exactly. For some reason it really does take five pulls On the first setting and then five more poles on the second setting. Maybe it’s something with the omission controls but it seems like a whole lot of pulling to get it started where my old 10 year unit would start on the first pole every time. Regardless, this is a quality unit super strong and very very nice to years. I love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This trimmer is a beast! This trimmer is an awesome beast! It has a lot of power and cuts everything in its path. The set up is pretty minimal and it also comes with a separate shaft and weed cutting attachment. The change over is a quick release button and very easy. While the trimmer not too heavy, it is also not the lightest I have used. It does come with a shoulder strap harness to help out. It has a different cutting wire than I am used to as well. It is a single piece of wire about a foot long that you thread through a hole. The wire is really durable more so than typical trimmer line and lasted a long time. I’m not sure I love this system. I’m used to the type that is a spool you bump on the ground to let out line. The cutting power is significantly reduced when the line gets shorter. The change over comes after about 30-45 minutes of cutting. Again, its by replacing the single 12” lines inserted manually each time. I am not sure if they make a spool attachments for this model but I plan on finding out. Overall this is a sweet trimmer, lots of fun to use and does the job well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this trimmer I really liked this Cub Cadet string trimmer. It was easy to start, cuts very well and I love the brush attachment. It was very easy to change the string as well. The bump guard is not necessary but was easily removed. I would highly recommend this trimmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I love working in the yard, and this weed trimmer has really been a great tool. I am not very tall or strong, but I have no problem using this piece of equipment. My 14 year old son is able to use it is as well. It is strong enough to get the job done on the thick weeds under my holly bushes. It is long enough that I don't have to get close to the pokey parts of the holly. The edges of my yard look great and I have had no problems using this weed trimmer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality! I have been using this for the past month and a half and let me tell you when I say this is the easiest to use, I mean it. It very great quality and it's very easy to put together and easy to power on. It comes with a brush cutter attachment so that's a big plus and it's easy to put on or off. A pro about this is that it's heavy duty so you know it'll last a long time. But also a con is that ITS HEAVY DUTY so it's kind of heavy to carry, but it works great! I used it to cut the leaves growing out of my trees and it works wonders! No problems whatsoever! I love that it comes with an extra cable and oil. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done My first thoughts out the box, it is well put together and comes with nice attachments. It comes with a shoulder strap and brushcutter. It is a 27cc two cycle engine. It’s cuts really well. It has plenty of cutting power. So far I have not noticed any negatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BC280 Trimmer The BC280 is great quality and performance. I didn't take much time to set up right out of the box. It was easy to start and has a lot of power to get the job done. It's lightweight and easy to handle. The bushcutter attachment is very convenient to have and switch over to use. It takes care of the trimming and overgrown brush in no time. I would diffidently recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful! We live on a small farm. It is fenced and cross-fenced for our livestock. Weeds and brush grow along the fence line and if we don't take care of it, it could cause problems for our fencing. We don't like to use any type of chemical treatments on our land, so weed killers are out of the question. Enter the Cub Cadet BC280. The BC280 comes with a 2-cycle trimmer and a brushcutter. You can easily interchange between the trimmer and brushcutter. I am very pleased that the unit also came with a strap that connects to the BC280 making it much easier on the arms. It is a solid machine with a lot of power. The trimmer rips through thick weeds without a second thought. The brushcutter is a lifesaver. It cuts down brush up to ½”. Perfect for knocking down those saplings and thorn bushes. The BC280 is easy to start as well. We have a couple of other weed eaters but they don’t hold a candle to this bad boy. The box came with extra string, a packet of 2-cycle engine oil, and even a premix can of gas and oil. Everything you need to get going straight out of the box. This is a high-quality product. You can’t go wrong purchasing the Cub Cadet BC280.
