Rated 3 out of 5 by from on the fence just bought this 54 in may and i hope its as good as my rzt50..the seat switch is really cheap the way its installed so i was having problems with it shutting down but i fixed that and now with 7 hours on the machine the spring that tensions the main drive belt broke so it was stuck in the field.i put a new spring on it but now im waiting to see what happens next.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average to Good I've owned a number of Cub Cadet products from older lawn tractors to push mowers. I ordered the mower online and had it delivered to me, although I wouldn't recommend that for the standard consumer due to unloading/setup/etc. Delivery was fine, although a tire had been punctured by a staple during the crating process and was flat when it arrived. It wouldn't hold air for long so I tried to get Cub Cadet to replace and was told to go to a dealer. The dealer would not replace the tire and would only patch it - which was frustrating since I purchased a brand new mower and now have a patched tire. Both Cub Cadet and the dealer more or less blamed me for puncturing the tire while removing it from the crate, although it had clearly been punctured prior to arriving. I've put about 10 hours on the mower now, which is a good amount of time to evaluate since my yard only takes about an hour to mow. I have just under an acre now, and this mower is bigger than needed, but was purchased with the intent that I will be moving to a location with 2-3 acres soon - which is probably a better space for this size of mower. The controls are responsive, it has plenty of power to cut grass that is a little taller or thicker, and seems to have a nice even cut. The mower does lack traction when it comes to any sort of incline or hill at all so it is probably best for yards that are mostly flat. There has also been an issue with oil blowing out of where the dipstick is once the mower has been run for a while - as it doesn't seem to attach securely enough. I don't believe there is an issue with overfilling as I have checked the levels and kept them relatively low. Overall a good mower if you are looking for something at a decent price and have a larger flat yard. May not be the best fit if you have terrain or do any sort of commercial mowing as it is not built for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied This mower did not get the best of reviews. Thankfully I recognized that most complaints were minor and nit picky. This is a hard working easy to use machine. I have two acres with all kinds of obstacles to mow around. I've been using a garden tractor with a 54" deck. After 1700 hours of use the transaxle blew out. I typically would double cut my yard and spend around 3 and a half to four hours to do it. I knew the zero turn would save time but it's honestly hard to comprehend how much faster it is. I still double cut but it's not necessary. This mower leaves a very even cut. The combination of the suction and deck design makes edging around trees quick and has almost eliminated the need to trim with the weed eater. That makes for even more time saved because I don't need to trim nearly as much. The frame is very solid. There is almost no flex when going over bumps. One of the common complaints I read was that the deck shuts off when going over bumps. That has happened once. But it was a bone jarring slam. You'll avoid high speed bumps more for comfort then concern of the deck cutting out. The gas tank being too small was also a common complaint. I double cut two acres and only filled the tank 3/4 of the way full and still had gas left when I was done. That was running at full throttle as well. Turning is effortless. Even with no zero turn experience I didn't turf the lawn. I think part of that has to do with the "slick" tires people complained about. The amount of heavy duty machine you get for your money is hard to find. I wish I had bought this years ago.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from unsure I bought this mower in April it's already not working I've taken care of it only used about 6 times .. sad thing is a bought the 3 year warranty but it takes forever before you can get it looked at then who knows how long it will take to fix .. so I'm the meantime your grass grows heavy and thick and I have to pay somebody to cut it.. that's sorry! I should of just kept paying somebody might if been cheaper these mowers are expensive especially if tearing up. I liked it thought it was doing fine but for it to just be not even a mkmtjand tear up that's terrible.. and I babied it heaven forbid somebody else drive it.. the warranty needs to cover my lawn mowing paying expenses while I wait for service I believe that would rush it up to get fixed.. I'm unsure about it now liked it but too expensive to be tearing up already!!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from As a zero turn it is great Tires are like slicks and spin all the time, with 3 blades that have a gap of 1 inch it leaves a line of uncut grass, very disappointing!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty disappointed I'm gonna try to make this to point. I purchased based off cub cadet name, 24hp kohler, and construction of the deck. The kohler has been great. The deck is so/so. I believe there is a lack of support in the front and the deck wheel brackets are an inferior design and cause problems. The drive train needs more attention. Reverse has no power. One of my parking brake mechanisms broke for no apparent reason. Now when I get off the mower one of the wheels is locked and the other isn't, so it just goes in circles. This makes it hard to park in my shed as well. I'm disappointed in the overall quality, and am wishing I purchased something different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Borrowed my father's 42" zero turn (non-Cub) and liked using it so much that 5 days later I found a great deal and bought a 54" Cub Zero Turn. Brought it home, fired it right up, and re-cut my lawn in about 35 minutes. Used to take an hour with my previous 50" Cub LT1550 tractor. Zero turn is so much more efficient, which I couldn't believe before I tried it for myself. Another aspect that I had not considered was how much easier it is to see where you are about to cut, so it makes "striping" the lawn easier. This RZTL54FAB was far superior than the non-Cub I had used, especially in manuevering control at low speeds. It is very smooth and the powerful discharge easily blew trimmings about 12-15 feet from the fabricated deck. I was also ecstatic that my storage building had EXACTLY enough space so that I can get it through the doorway, as long as the chute is not down (although the Cub Cadet folks thought of that, too, and provided a bracket to hold the chute up). This mower may actually be worth using fertilzer on my yard so I can get more seat time on my RZTL.
