Instructions

Step 1

Place mower on a flat, level surface.

Step 2

Make sure the engine is off and cool, then disconnect the spark plug ignition wire.

Step 3

Engage the parking brake.

Step 4

Put the deck height lever in its lowest position.

Step 5

Release the idler pulley tension lever, then remove the PTO belt from the deck.

Step 6

Pull the J-hooks from the right side, then the left side to release the deck from the hanger brackets.

Step 7

Raise the deck to its highest position.

Step 8

Slide the deck forward and remove the front lift rod.

Step 9

Turn the front wheels to the right and then to the left while maneuvering the cutting deck out from below the right side of the mower.

Step 10

Remove the belt covers from the outer pulleys.

Step 11

Release the tension on the idler deck arm. Remove the belt from the right idler pulley.

Step 12

Loosen the left, fixed idler pulley. Remove the deck belt.

Step 13

Route the new deck belt.

Step 14

Reassemble by following the previous directions in reverse order.

Step 15

Slide the deck back under the mower from the right side.

Step 16

Reattach front lift rod and lower the deck to its lowest position.

Step 17

Replace the J-hooks.

Step 18

Release the idler pulley tension lever and reattach the PTO belt.

Step 19

Reconnect the spark plug ignition wires.
