Step 1

Remove the spark plug ignition wire.

Step 2

Drain the fuel tank or place plastic beneath the cap to prevent leakage.

Step 3

Tip the mower on it's side with the air filter up.

Step 3a

Remove the self-tapping screws from the side of the deck.

Step 4

Wearing gloves for protection, secure the blade using the Arnold Blade Removal Tool.  Remove the blade retaining bolt and then remove the blade.

Step 5

Remove the self-tapping screws that secure the engine baffle and belt cover to the deck.  Next, remove the baffle and belt cover.

Step 6

Remove the belt from the blade adapter and drive pulley, then remove the blade adapter from the crankshaft.

Step 7

Working from the rear of the mower, carefully remove the belt from the transmission pulley.

Step 8

Push down on the deck baffle to access the engine pulley.  Slide the belt off this pulley and out from under the deck.

Step 9

Replace with a new belt. Work it between the deck and the baffle.  First, route it around the transmission pulley and then the engine pulley.

Step 10

Tighten the self-tapping screws that secures the deck baffle to the deck.

Step 11

Replace the engine baffle and secure it with the self-tapping screws.

Step 12

Wearing gloves, secure the blade using the Arnold Blade Removal Tool.  Replace the blade retaining bolt and blade adapter.

Step 13

Tip the mower back onto its wheels.

Step 14

Reattach the spark plug ignition wire.
